   Travel Canary Islands

The Canary islands consist of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, El Hierro, La Gomera and La Palma, with Lanzarote at the north and El Hierro in the south. There are also numerous smaller islands such as Alegranza, Graciosa and Montaña Clara.

Below you will find an introduction to the Canary Islands, to give you a broad spectrum of the things to do and see, along with relevant websites providing more detailed information.

Lanzarote

Lanzarote is the fourth largest of the Canary islands. It hardly ever rains in Lanzarote, thus the reason for the bizarrely beautiful arid landscape, and year round appeal to sun seekers.
Lanzarote carefully adheres to traditional building styles and has so far avoided the construction of high-rise buildings, making it a very aesthetically pleasing beach resort.

Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is often described as a mini continent as it has many different climate zones very close together, for example desert plans and tropical forests, and landscapes with European, African and American vegetation. One can relax among the rolling dunes of Maspalomas or party all night on the beach side resort of Playa del Inglés.

Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura, however, is famous for its amazing beaches and surfable waves, such as in Corralejo and El Cotillo or the long strands of Playa de Sotavento on the Jandía Peninsula, where you can take a stroll or go sunbathing.

You can take a walk in the ancient Laurel forest of the Parque Nacional de Garajonay or a boat trip around Los Órganos and to taste traditional Canarian style, stay in one of the country houses (casa rural).
